Chennakesava Temple26:

The Chennakesava Temple, originally called Vijayanarayana Temple was built in Belur, by the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana. Built a temple for Vijaynarayana in 1117 A.D. in commemoration of his victory against the Chola viceroy of Talkad. An inscription on the pedestal of Vijayanarayana image states that the image was caused to be made by King Vishnu. The Mohini Pillar has an amazing statue of Mohini, which is the female avataar of Lord Vishnu carved on it. The fine details and glisten of the soap stone with the warm light of the diyaas around, totally enhances the beauty of this pillar.
