Chennakesava Temple06:

The Chennakesava Temple, originally called Vijayanarayana Temple was built in Belur, by the Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana. Built a temple for Vijaynarayana in 1117 A.D. in commemoration of his victory against the Chola viceroy of Talkad. An inscription on the pedestal of Vijayanarayana image states that the image was caused to be made by King Vishnu. There is a ornate circle on the ceiling which depicts a prominent carving of Lord Vishnu as Narasimha in the centre.
