Bharatanatyam; Part -1; Aangika Vaachika:

Angika Vachika abhinaya is the subject of discussion here. The first part, angika abhinaya i.e. through limbs, is demonstrated through two shlokas that centre around the idea of four-fold abhinaya. It is further classified into anga, pratyaanga and upanga. The second part, vachika means dialogue in drama, is elaborated. The vachika abhinaya is verbal communication; it is performed by the singer during dance performance. Commentary before dance is an example. A performance on a Tamil song by Subramania Bharti is shown as an illustration.
